You're referring to it not having an inscription slot? Just as some non-insc items don't have inherent properties, some inscribable items don't have inscription slots. It happens much less often though. Perhaps it's unintentional; there's no way to know without asking Anet.

Gold drops in EotN without inscription slots are quite uncommon. Getting a req 9 Chrysicola staff without one is pretty rare, but unfortunately probably takes away all the value from said staff. At least its a cool skin...

I actually do think its a bug... I don't think anet would intentionally leave out inscriptions like that, though it can make items more valuable to players. Its just not a bug that's unknown to many of us. Its also not something that's likely to be fixed at this point (if indeed it even is a bug). I personally have had it happen dozens of times, though almost always in normal mode, and never with a dungeon chest (though the loot tables are probably shared for chests so no big surprise)

It is a bug. That item is supposed to have an inscription. I would suggest reporting this on guild wars support forums.

You don't know that for sure. As I said, some uninsc items don't always have all their inherent ability slots filled, and likewise some inscribable items don't have inscription slots. It's unusual, but possible. Unless you've gotten actual confirmation one way or another from Anet, you can't definitively tell me what their intention is (so yes, asking support would be the appropriate thing to do - I'd be interesting in seeing their response).

There are other dungeon chest rewards that don't always have the slot. e.g. the BDS. although recent sources tend to call this a bug I've gone back a bit in time and looking at the history of the old wikia. it looks like the statement before release of nightfall by Arenanet was that every weapon has a change to have an inscriptionslot (not saying how big the change is). This means the opposite is true as well. Every weapon that drops in nightfall or EotN has a change to not have an inscription. However they amount of weapons that have if it when it comes to dungeon end chests and the amount that have it not justifies in my opinion to ask Anet for a response. So go ahead and pls file a bugreport. Ow and pls let us know here what the outcome was..

Believe it or not, this is not the first time this has come up.
It's not a bug - like Marty said, since the very beginning, items have dropped that had no inherent modifier or (later) no Inscription slot. It's just the extreme end of the crap modifier random chance. |
